Labor/Employment Law Attorney at HCI Systems, Inc.

Position Type: Full-Time

Compensation Range: $100,000-$200,000/ yr

HCI Systems, Inc. is a construction specialty contractor specializing in delivering comprehensive safety and security solutions including fire alarm systems, electronic security, and more. We are seeking an experienced Labor/Employment Law Attorney to join our legal team and provide strategic legal guidance across our operations.

As a Labor/ Employment Law Attorney at HCI Systems, Inc., you will play a critical role in guiding the company through the complexities of employment law, ensuring compliance, and protecting the company against legal risks. This position requires a dynamic individual who can effectively navigate the evolving legal landscape, provide innovative solutions, and support the company's growth and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of employment matters including but not limited to hiring, on boarding, internal investigations, FMLA, leaves of absence, terminations, workplace accommodations, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour compliance and all aspects of related employment and labor issues
  • Draft, review, interpret and negotiate employment-related agreements, confidentiality, non-compete, separation, and all related policies.
  • Manage employment litigation and administrative charges, including mediation and arbitration.
  • Stay current with changes in employment law and effectively communicate implications for the company.
  • Develop and implement training programs for HR and management on employment law issues and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the strategic objectives of the company, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Provide counsel on traditional labor law matters and support the company on union related issues and labor disputes as applicable.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in California.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in labor/employment law, with a preference for candidates who have both law firm and in-house experience.
  • Strong knowledge of California and federal labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in construction and/or safety, security, or related industries is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-state employment laws a plus
